This journey is designed for families and individuals to experience a creative immersion into the life and legacy of the world’s most famous children’s author-illustrator. On this fantastical tour, you will walk through Beatrix Potter’s plein art locations: vibrant forests, lush gardens, and quintessential villages. Absorb the beauty that inspired 23 tales about Peter Rabbit and his friends, as well as Beatrix’s original scientific drawings and water-colored illustrations. Experience Beatrix’s life as an illustrator, author, farmer, and environmentalist; participate in the activities she loved and wrote about. This curated journey will unveil the artist inside of you (and your children) and establish an easel for creating your own memories together.

Dates:

Tour begins in Manchester, UK, on June 1, 2027. Must be at the Manchester Airport by 10am on June 1. Tour ends in Manchester on June 7, 2027. (Travelers should depart the U.S. on May 31 to arrive no later than 10am and schedule return flights after 12:00 PM on June 7. Transportation will be provided for airport pick-up/returns to Manchester Airport)

Why This Journey Is Different

This experience is designed to plunge you into Beatrix’s early 19th century England and launch you into self-expression. Each day, a hands-on experience builds on the previous day’s encounter with artistic inspiration and practice. Guests will learn fundamental skills for painting, storytelling, crafting, fishing, and cooking in a fun, family-friendly environment. Guests will receive a Beatrix Potter gift basket with their own sketch books, art supplies, and journals to use throughout the trip. Children can even participate in teacher-led nightly readings from Beatrix Potter’s little books while their parents relax after dinner.

Valid Passport and ETA Required for Travel to England:

Passport Validity: Must be valid for the full duration of your stay in the United Kingdom. Blank Pages: At least one blank page recommended for entry stamps. ETA Requirement: Beginning in 2026, U.S., Canadian, Australian, and other previously visa‑exempt travelers must obtain a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before boarding a flight. Stay Length: ETA permits visits up to 6 months for tourism. Application: Apply via the official UK ETA app or the GOV.UK website. Processing typically takes minutes to a few business days.

Many of our guests join La Belle Route experiences on their own, and we welcome solo travelers.

If you are traveling independently but would like to share a room, you may request to be paired with another solo traveler. We will do our best to match interested guests; however, roommate pairings are not guaranteed and depend on availability.

If a roommate match is not available, the single occupancy rate will apply.
