Join author Tristin Clark for a magical journey in Tromsø, Norway, where the Arctic landscape and Northern Lights set the stage for immersive workshops, storytelling, and cultural experiences. This journey blends creative inspiration, local traditions, and breathtaking natural wonders for an unforgettable adventure above the Arctic Circle.
All travelers are responsible for ensuring they have the proper documentation required for entry into Norway.
U.S. Citizens: A valid U.S. passport is required and should be valid for at least six months beyond your planned return date. Travelers must also complete any required electronic travel authorizations/visa requirements in effect at the time of travel.
Two European border control systems affect most non-EU citizens travelling to Norway for short stays: the Entry/Exit System (EES), which is now fully operational, and the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), which is expected to begin operating in the last quarter of 2026.
All travellers from countries outside the EU/EEA who visit Norway or the Schengen Area for a short stay (up to 90 days) are registered in the European Entry/Exit System (EES), which is now fully operational.
The system will record your facial image, fingerprints, and information about your passport, as well as the time and place of your entry and exit.
See politiet.no for more information.
International Travelers: Entry requirements vary by country of citizenship. Travelers who do not hold a U.S. passport should verify passport, visa, and entry requirements with the appropriate Norwegian embassy, consulate, or official government authority prior to departure.

Every story begins somewhere, and this story… with one you can hold. An experimental bookbinding session: Create a beautiful, hand-bound journal from locally sourced materials, using reindeer leather, fish skin, cloth, or linens for your cover. The perfect memento to keep and cherish forever, as well as use throughout the retreat to log your every precious memory.
If Nolance could create Serena’s soul-star necklace, there’s no stopping you from creating your own custom ring. A goldsmith workshop in which you may participate in shaping, melting, filing, and finishing your own one-of-a-kind silver ring. After a brief introduction to Wabi Sabi, it’s to the workbenches where a skilled goldsmith will guide you every step of the way until you have the most unique finished possession to remind you just how beautiful a gift from the soul may be.
Participate in an entertaining author-led session with Tristin in a ‘Get To Know The Author’ deep dive: Hear the author’s personal story that led her to find writing as an escape from reality. Listen to her share the inspiration behind writing A War Amongst The Stars and her beautifully flawed characters. Enjoy knowing the steamy dream that gave her the idea to write it. And revel in some hidden, yet blushing fun facts from her first drafts that never made it to final paper. But make sure to grab your journal for an entertaining writing prompt at the end.
Join Tristin for her birthday with a majestic fjord night cruise. As Serena and Nolance flew into the night over the crisp dark sea and glaciers, heading to the high mountains, sail along the refreshing Norwegian waters on catamaran with a chance to view the magical Northern Lights behind the stunning snowcapped mountains.
If you close your eyes for a moment, it may feel as if you too, are flying. Experience the thrill and frosty wind upon your face just as Nolance and Serena did while soaring through the icy air. 70-80 exhilarating minutes of standing on the back of a sled, driving your own team of Arctic huskies through the breathtaking Kvaløya wintry wilderness. In operation since 1999, Arctic Adventure Tours and their 130 huskies are proudly known as one of the most respected in all of Northern Norway.
Physical Requirements: Good fitness required. Must have balance, firm grip, and the ability to jog uphill. Must be ages 7+ as passengers, or 16+ to drive.
A lavvo-inspired floating sauna experience above the Arctic Circle with a full Aufguss ceremony and guided cold plunge into the Arctic fjord. An invigorating opportunity where you don’t have to imagine how cold the glacier water was that Serena had dipped her hand into, but get to feel it for yourself.
A four-hour immersion with a multi-generational indigenous Sami reindeer herding family. The Long Sledding tour includes: a full sled ride, feeding the magnificent reindeer, traditional bidos lunch inside a lavvu tent, a live Joik performance, and traditional storytelling from the Sami people.
The world of Mel’Vargon is nothing without its ancient past, and so is the same of the Sami people and theirs. Shared legends and history that predate written Norwegian literature by centuries, immerse yourself in an extended evening of intimate ceremonial traditions that include: a lavvu setting with fire, bidos, drumming, and more rich storytelling told by the incredible Sami cultural guides. And if the skies shall bless us, we may just witness the Aurora Borealis above.
A dedicated perfume making session exploring the olfactory vocabulary of the Arctic: juniper, birch, reindeer lichen, Arctic moss, seaweed, sea salt. As scent is uniquely linked to memory and emotion, for a writer and reader, building a conscious library of scent-to-memory-to-emotion pathways is a must in bringing the places and those from a story that we love and adore, to life.
Ascend Mt. Storsteinen by cable car in just five minutes. With 360° panoramic views of the beautiful Tromsø, the surrounding fjords, and the snow-peaked mountains of the Lyngen Alps, you’ll really feel as if you’ve flown to the summit and are right there with Nolance and Serena as they gaze upon the wintry world below. At the top, is a café. Bring your journal, sit, have a warm drink, relax and take in the majestic beauty of it all.
